The carver is unknown, sad to say, but he must have been a master. He chose a log of wood of supreme quality, it's dark brown, of high density and weight and with almost no visible wood pores. Just look at the very detailed objects, or the very thin tail of Sugriva, that's absolutely stunning. There is a part of the tree's leaves missing, but that isn't a big deal.
All the Hindu gods out there kept an eye on this piece of art when it was sent to me by the postal service, and it arrived undamaged. Unbelievable that the seller from Germany couldn't find someone to buy this masterpiece before I did. There aren't so much woodcarving fans in Germany. Lucky me, I got it! When I bought the woodcarving in 2022 the seller was a senior already and his mother was 103 years old (!) and still living. Her late husband had friends in Indonesia decades ago, so they brought the woodcarving to Germany in the 1970s or 1980s.
