Dupa
Originally I assumed this statue to be Devi Sri. Thanks to the help of the Njana Tilem Gallery in Bali, the name could be corrected. It is Devi Dupa, also called Devi Agni. This fact was new to me, as I assumed Agni was always represented as a male god. Perhaps this is a modification of Balinese Hinduism. In any case, the flame in the hand of the goddess makes it clear that it is Devi Dupa.
This carving got darker toned wax as a finish, so Dupa's clothing looks like being painted or having tattoos. Very beautiful, even though I like unwaxed carvings the most. There is a very small part missing on the headdress, but you may not notice it. I got this figurine from a commercial seller from Spain, quite an exeption as spanish sellers for Bali art don't show up that often.
